Bob Ludwig & Elliot Scheiner at The Bridge Sound & Stage!

Bob Ludwig and Elliot Scheiner told some good stories, including a discussion on whether The Eagles or Steeley Dan were more finicky with their mixes. Good times were had by all! Thanks to CDIA for lending us the chairs and reppin' hard at the event!

This was part of a Tour called the from mic to monitor roadshow. The show is only a small part sales pitch. Mostly it is a student level lecture on concepts like word clock and speaker placement.

Stay tuned for more famous appearances at The Bridge coming soon!

Eddie Carlino's custom guitars, Medford MA

Eddie Carlino has a custom guitar shop in Medford MA. http://www.carlinoguitars.com. I have been admiring his custom inlays work and just enjoying hanging out at the shop. He has a laser cutting machine that can cut the most accurate shapes out of wood and he has been using it to help me with a few projects at the studio. Check out the shop the next time you are in the area.

The Boston Section of the Audio Engineering Society Presents…

Audio for Live Television Sports Productions
By Rick Smith

Audio for television sports is a specialized branch of the audio industry. TV sports audio personnel face unique challenges in order to provide the viewer with high quality sound from a live sporting event. Rick Smith will walk you through the equipment, signal path, and miking challenges faced by television audio engineers.

Tues Oct. 12th, 7pm
Devlin Hall - Room 026
Boston College

Rick Smith has been freelancing in the television audio industry for almost twenty years. He has worked at every major sports venue in New England, and others around the country. He has mixed shows for sports as common as baseball, basketball and hockey, as well as unusual events like ballroom dancing, paintball and professional bull riding. He has grown with the industry. Fifteen years ago 90% of sports productions were still mixed in mono on analog consoles. Today, a TV sports mixer needs to be prepared to build mixes in mono, stereo and surround on a variety of digital consoles.

Rick is currently teaching full-time at the New England Institute of Art and freelancing in the TV sports industry.
